omg! hand!

"I need to return some videotapes..."

Just finished watching American Psycho.
Whoo-wee.

From the way my mom was talking last night, I thought it was going to be waaaaay more gruesome than it actually was... albeit, the randy sex scenes were a bit much...
But the social commentary was great. And the satire was blacker than the charred bowels of Hell. The whole buisness card thing was fabulous.

*points to subject header* I'm totally using this excuse from now on.

Christian Bale makes a top-notch crazyman. I can't believe the little boy who was in Empire of the Sun (great movie!) grew up to play a yuppie killer... *pretends to weep for the decadence of innocence*

Christian Bale also has a very nice ass.
I'm just sayin'.

Concerning the twist-thingy at the end: Ah, hypocrisy... how I love thee.

Favorite quotes:
ATM machine: FEED ME A STRAY CAT.

Patrick: I like to dissect girls. Did you know I'm utterly insane?

Patrick: I don't think we should see each other any more.
Evelyn: Why? What's wrong?
Patrick: I need to engage in homicidal behaviour on a massive scale. It can not be corrected but I have no other way to fulfill my needs.

Waiter: Would you like to hear today's specials?
Patrick: Not if you want to keep your spleen.

Patrick: There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there."
^  Sometimes I feel the same exact way, buddy.

One more thing: I also watched Amadeus. As in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Fan-frickin'-tastic. If you are willing to sit for three hours and the sound of grade-A classical music doesn't make your ears bleed, then I totally recommend it. The acting is superb. Tom Hulce is splendidly crude and adorable beyond belief as Mozart. F. Murray Abraham (who won an Oscar for this) is quietly crazy-evil as Antonio Salieri, the man who, according to urban legend, supposedly caused Mozart's death.  The part where Mozart is composing his Requiem Mass in bed while Salieri writes it down for him is powerful stuff.

High recomendations for both movies.
